How it works
How play works
No sign-up sheets. One board, one queue, games picked by level.

The board
Each number is a court. The four tags under it are the four people playing there.
- The board. Each number is a court. The four tags under it are the four people playing there.
- On deck. A, B and C are the next three games, in order. C is empty, so the next game goes there.
- Your tag. The coloured sticker shows each player’s level, so you can pick a fair game with anyone.
- Join the queue. Hang your tag at the end of the queue. START marks the front.
- Pick a game. Jane is at the front, so her tag goes up first. She picks any three players near her level, not just the next in line. Four Intermediates on deck C: a fair game.
- A court finishes. Court 8’s game ends. Those four tags go to the back of the queue. The A group is up next, so they’re called: “Vic, Wes, Xia and Zac, court 8!” Chip 8 moves over their tags.
- Everyone moves up. Everyone else moves up. Chip A goes to the next group in line. Chip B moves along too. Chip C marks the empty spot, ready for the next pick. That’s why real boards are rarely in order.
- Your game. Tom is at the front now, so he goes up first. He skips Ana and picks three Novices, including you. You’re on deck. No need to reach the front to play.

Common questions
Before you ask
Yes. Erindale Badminton Club is only for adults 18 years of age and older. Our insurance only covers adult players, so we are unable to accommodate children on the courts.
Not at all. We are an open, inclusive club and welcome players of every level. You will always find a game at your pace.
We use a friendly queue (board) system: the player at the front picks the next game, plays one game, then rotates off. This way courts turn over quickly and no one waits long.
Access to our courts for the full season, club-provided Yonex Mavis 300 shuttles (you are welcome to bring your own feather shuttles), social nights, our in-house tournament, and the year-end party.
Yes. Beginner-friendly coaching is offered on select dates through the season, and we let members know ahead of time and the day of. Sessions are only run if there is enough interest.

No staff, just us. Everyone helps carry the gear and set up the nets, which keeps the fee low.
